The chairman of the Central Election Commission of Moldova Angelica Karaman warned the leader of the Party of Socialists of The patriotic bloc of Igor Dodon to refrain from accusations that the results of the parliamentary elections were falsified. She stated this today, September 29, shortly before the protest rally scheduled by the opposition.
The head of the CEC stressed that the institution has already submitted preliminary results and that the process of their official confirmation continues. After that, the documents will be transferred to The Constitutional Court, which is authorized to confirm or refute the legality of the elections.
"Within 48 hours, the results of the districts must be submitted to the Central Election Commission in the original. They will be systematized, and the report will be compiled in accordance with the Electoral Code," Karaman explained.
At the same time, the Moldovan police said that people were allegedly promised money for participating in Dodon's protest action. The General Inspectorate (ISU) reminded the organizers that they are fully responsible for these actions and that the law will punish them.
"The police respect everyone's right to freedom of expression and call on citizens to control their actions, not to succumb to temptations and respect their dignity," the police said in a statement.
The ISU assured that in case of violations, law enforcement officers will immediately intervene.
Earlier, the Moldovan police reported the detention of several people who were allegedly trained abroad to organize provocations at the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova. Also, employees of the National Investigative Inspectorate and special forces detained three people who are accused of involvement in the preparation of mass riots after the September 28 elections. The two detainees are allegedly connected with the law enforcement agencies of Transnistria — "they were responsible for coordinating, monitoring and logistical support of groups of protesters."
Recall, ex-President Igor Dodon gathers his supporters at the parliament building. Earlier, he stated that it was necessary to "protect the victory of the opposition" or demand the cancellation of the voting results "if it becomes obvious that the elections were grossly rigged."
As EADaily reported, according to the CEC of Moldova, the ruling Action and Solidarity party "won" the parliamentary elections again. The PDS receives 55 mandates, the Patriotic Bloc — 26, the Alternative bloc - 8, Our Party and Democracy at Home - 6 mandates each. In addition to the Patriotic Bloc, all electoral competitors recognized the results, calling the elections "democratic."
President Maia Sandu is cracking down on the objectionable, sending them to prison or forcing them to leave the country. Thus, the head of Gagauzia, Yevgenia Hutsul, was sentenced to seven years in prison, where she is kept in terrible conditions. Former prosecutor and Moldovan presidential candidate Victoria Furtune was forced to leave for neighboring Romania, and Sandu's main rival, businessman Ilan Shor, who tried to take refuge in Israel, eventually moved to Russia.
