Supreme Court Judge Momotov resigned after a lawsuit by the Prosecutor General's Office — Mass media

Secretary of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, member of the Supreme Court of the country Viktor Momotov resigned. The decision to terminate his powers was made by the Higher Qualification Board of Judges of the Russian Federation.

This is reported by the Kommersant newspaper, referring to the press release of the seventh meeting of the HCC of the Russian Federation for 2025. It follows from the document that Momotov's resignation followed after the Prosecutor General's Office sued him for the seizure of property worth more than 9 billion rubles.

It is also noted that Momotov was among the other 15 judges whose powers were terminated by the collegium. The decision was made on the basis of their written applications for resignation on the basis of subparagraph 1 of paragraph 1 of Article 14 of the law "On the Status of Judges in Of the Russian Federation".

The agency clarifies that the prosecutor's lawsuit has been filed in the Ostankino Court of Moscow. In it, the plaintiff insists on applying to the state's income for 95 property objects — 44 land plots and 51 real estate objects.

All of them are used to provide hotel services in the Krasnodar Territory, Rostov, Voronezh, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad regions and in Moscow. The beginning of the parties' debate on the lawsuit is scheduled for September 30.

It is noted that earlier Viktor Momotov, in an interview with journalists, called the data from the anti-corruption lawsuit of the Prosecutor General's Office, in which he was accused of illegally combining the position of a judge with entrepreneurial activity in the field of hotel business, "defamatory".

However, the supervisory authority claims that there is an evidentiary basis for its claims. It is alleged that the judge carried out illegal activities jointly with the owner of the Marton hotel chain, Andrei Marchenko.
