At the Border checkpoint in Primorsky Krai, customs officers stopped an attempt to import into Russia from China has almost 3 thousand drones located in two trucks. This was announced today, September 24, by the Federal Customs Service.
The declaration stated that the trucks were carrying toys and consumer goods. However, boxes hidden among other goods were found in the cars. There turned out to be two aircraft-type drones, about 2.7 thousand quadrocopters and more than 200 units of components. Some drones were equipped with surveillance cameras, thermal imagers and devices for dumping cargo.
"Drones illegally imported in such numbers pose a potential threat to the safety of life and health of citizens," the FCS noted.
The FCS initiated an administrative case under the article of the Administrative Code "Non-declaration or false declaration of goods." In accordance with it, the violator faces a fine of up to twice the value of the goods with their possible confiscation.
Customs officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident, including the purpose of importing drones to Russia.If the court decides to confiscate the seized cargo, the drones and components will be handed over to the Russian Defense Ministry.
