The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador Eleonora Mitrofanova and expressed to her a written demarche in connection with the incident with the UAV in Poland. This is stated in the official statement of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry.
The statement notes that the Bulgarian authorities condemn the violation of Polish airspace and express "solidarity with their ally and partner." Similarly, the diplomatic department commented on the incident with the violation of Romanian airspace allegedly by a Russian UAV on September 13.
Russian Ambassador Eleonora Mitrofanova commented on Bulgaria's demarche to TASS.
"At the meeting, I explained that the Russian Defense Ministry officially denied the appearance of Russian UAVs in Poland, since these devices could not physically cover a distance of more than 700 km, in addition, stressed that no tasks were set to hit objects on the territory of Poland, declaring readiness to hold consultations on the investigation of the incident. My personal opinion is that in this situation we are talking about a deliberate provocation by Ukraine, and possibly Poland, in order to further increase the degree of confrontation," the diplomat said.
As reported, on September 10, the operational command of the Polish army announced the destruction of several objects identified as UAVs and violated the country's airspace.
