The duration of geomagnetic disturbances will be at least four to six days, and probably there will be not continuous magnetic storms, but individual bursts. This is stated in the message of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of ICI RAS and ISZF SB RAS.
Earlier, the Institute of Applied Geophysics reported that the geomagnetic field disturbance predicted by scientists, caused by the influence of a large coronal hole on the Earth, began on the night of September 15 and continues to be observed.
The full normalization of the situation in near-Earth space will take place no earlier than September 18-19.
"It is wrong to assume that continuous magnetic storms will be observed throughout this period. The impact of coronal holes is highly unstable and usually consists of a long series of individual bursts lasting for several hours, between which there is a temporary normalization of the situation, "the report said, quoted by TASS.
Despite the fact that there is no objective mathematical assessment of the course of the current storm yet, it is considered as a basic branch of the scenario that the local current surge will end in the next six to nine hours.
