The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) paid damages for the oil leak during the loading of the tanker at the terminal near Novorossiysk in a pre-trial procedure. The amount amounted to almost 180 million rubles.

"The CPC pre—trial paid the claim for compensation for damage to the water body after an emergency situation on August 29, 2025," the CPC reports.

The company noted that the Federal Service for Supervision of Environmental Management Rosprirodnadzor completed an assessment of environmental damage after an emergency situation and the amount of payment amounted to 179,298,490 rubles.

"Based on the results of the inspection of the water area, the study of the analyses of the samples taken, the consideration of information from the participants of the operation to eliminate the consequences of the oil spill, the department made the necessary calculations. The supervisory authority found that during the liquidation of the consequences of the spill, the volume of irretrievable losses amounted to 8.43 m3 or 6.7 tons of oil,"the consortium reports.

As a result, on September 8, the management of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium received a request for voluntary compensation for damage caused to the water body.

As EADaily reported, on August 29, an oil leak occurred while loading a tanker from a second remote mooring device in the Black Sea near Novorossiysk. A floating hose burst. Its operation was stopped. Instead, the third VPU was returned to work. Rosprirodnadzor stated with reference to the CPC that about 30 cubic meters of oil got into the sea.

CPC is the main route for the export of Kazakh oil. Russian oil is also supplied along the route.
