International trader: The US wants results. Then — sanctions against China and India

New US sanctions may disrupt oil supplies, but will be effective only if they affect India and China. This was stated by the head of the research and analytics department of the international trader Gunvor Frederic Lasser.

"President Trump is serious about tightening sanctions. Strict restrictions against Russia and Iran could reduce supplies by more than 1 million barrels per day. But the question is in the nature of sanctions... and today, if no sanctions are imposed against buyers, China and India, then everything else is pure rhetoric," said a representative of a major trader.

Earlier, the United States imposed 25 percent duties on India for the purchase of Russian oil. However, Delhi refused to stop importing raw materials from Russia. Washington has not applied oil sanctions to China, since mutual duties are already large enough.

Over the past week, the United States has been demanding that the EU completely abandon oil and gas from Russia in return for increased sanctions.
