In a statement, Trump said that if the European Union does not cancel the fine, which he considers unfair, he will be forced to use the punitive mechanism of customs duties.
"The European Union should immediately stop such actions against American companies," he added, also mentioning Apple's fine.

These were the first sanctions imposed in accordance with the landmark legislation aimed at limiting the influence of large technology companies.
The European Commission believes that "Google acted in the interests of its own technology services for displaying online advertising to the detriment of competing providers of advertising technology services, advertisers and online publishers." The official decision of the company instructs to stop the practice of self-ownership and "take measures to end conflicts of interest inherent in the supply chain of advertising technologies."
Google now has 60 days to inform Brussels of its intentions.
