US President Donald Trump said he would welcome the participation of Russian and Chinese leaders Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping in the G20 summit in Miami in 2026 and is ready to discuss this issue if Moscow and Beijing will show interest.
"This is an interesting question. I would welcome their presence if they want to. They could have come as observers. I'm not sure they want to be observers. But if they want, of course, we can discuss it," Trump said, answering a question from reporters in the Oval Office of the White House.
As Trump said earlier, the G20 summit will be held in the United States for the first time in almost 20 years and will be timed to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the country's independence. The venue chosen is Florida, the city of Miami.
