In a number of media outlets, as well as in the telegram blogosphere, false information is being spread about non-payment of insurance funds in connection with the crash of an Azerbaijani Airlines (AZAL) passenger plane on December 25, 2024 near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. This was stated by the Russian Foreign Ministry today, September 4.
"We are dealing with another stuffing speculating on the tragedy in the already familiar cynical style, designed for the emotional reaction of the audience. Such insinuations do not correspond to reality. This is a lie," the statement on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The Ministry informed how the situation really is. The Russian insurance company JSC "AlfaStrakhovanie" from February 2025 carries out insurance payments in connection with the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane (Baku — Grozny flight). The insurance indemnity for the aircraft in the amount of the full insured value — 1.003 billion rubles was paid to the Azerbaijani airline.
"The claims related to injuries and deaths of 46 out of 62 passengers of the flight have been fully settled, including payments for 7 out of 15 Russian citizens, 35 out of 38 Azerbaijani citizens, all 3 Kyrgyz citizens, and 1 out of 6 Kazakh citizens have been fully made. As of today, insurance payments have been made to the injured passengers of the aircraft and relatives of the victims totaling 358.4 million rubles," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Work with the victims and relatives of the victims to coordinate the amounts of compensation for the purposes of a full settlement continues.
According to the ministry, attempts by a number of media outlets and bloggers to misinform the public on this sensitive issue leave no doubt about the destructive intentions and complete lack of moral guidance of their authors and those who stand behind them.
"We urge you not to succumb to obvious speculations and stuffing, especially such low-grade ones. We again recommend that you be vigilant, observe digital hygiene and focus only on official information and trust verified sources," the Foreign Ministry said in a comment.
