In a recent interview with the French public radio France Inter, quoted by the blog Le Ravi, Bill Gates admitted — "I'm afraid too," speaking about the rapid development of artificial intelligence.
At the same time, Gates emphasized the potential of artificial intelligence. According to the World Economic Forum, by 2030 AI can lead to the loss of about 85 million jobs worldwide. But, on the other hand, new technologies can create about 97 million new jobs in all sectors. This shift promises to change the labor market in a complex but potentially useful way.
Of all the professions discussed by Gates, programming, even after a century, will still be 100% a human profession, the quoted source notes. In this regard, Gates emphasized the unique human qualities underlying programming: creativity and reasonableness that no machine can reproduce.
Of course, AI can automate repetitive tasks, such as debugging code. But the essence of programming, innovative problem solving and the development of new solutions, depends on a deep understanding of human nature. Writing code, Gates is sure, is not only a set of commands, but also understanding complex tasks and developing personalized answers.
