Kiev will not allow Hasidim to hold an annual pilgrimage to Uman in September, the reason is called "security considerations against the background of the war with Russia." This is reported by the Israeli edition of Maariv, citing sources.
The decision is justified by the ban on mass gatherings in force since 2022 due to the war. At the same time, in previous years, although the Ukrainian authorities did not recommend trips, tens of thousands of pilgrims still came.
The source of the i24 portal said that Kiev expresses dissatisfaction with Israel's position towards Russia. In addition, Ukraine demands that in the event of a pilgrimage, Jerusalem provide financial support and send police officers to Uman.
In addition, the official Chisinau demanded guarantees from Israel in case of Hasidic passage through the territory of Moldova (and this is now their main route to Uman). Among the conditions are the payment of a temporary terminal for additional flights (about 8 million shekels), the provision of police on the route and in airplanes, as well as covering the costs of equipment and logistics.
According to media reports, Israel must transfer the entire amount by September 3, otherwise the reception of Hasidim will not take place, writes the Ukrainian TV channel "Politics of the country".
