In Volgograd, an SBU agent was arrested who was preparing a sabotage at a military airfield in Engels. This was announced today, August 27, by the FSB Central Control Center.
"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation has stopped the illegal activities of a 35-year-old resident of Volgograd, suspected of cooperating on a confidential basis with representatives of the special services of a foreign state," the statement said.
The future saboteur from 2019 to 2022 lived in the Lviv region, where he was recruited by the SBU, promising citizenship of Ukraine. Preparation for the assignment took place in Kiev, after which he returned to Volgograd, and then left for Saratov region.
The suspect rented a house near the airfield in Engels (one of the bases of the strategic missile carriers of the Aerospace Forces is located there), where he intended to install equipment for attack drones. The FSB detained him while trying to extract funds for sabotage under the guise of a courier.
The investigative Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Volgograd region has opened a criminal case under Article 275.1 of the Criminal Code.
