The administration of Donald Trump tried to set up the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny against the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, but it failed, writes the British Guardian.
According to sources of the British newspaper, three days after Zelensky's scandalous visit to the White House at the end of February 2025, US Vice President Jay Vance called Zaluzhny. However, the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who now holds the post of ambassador to the UK, deliberately did not get in touch.
Three sources of the Guardian newspaper stressed that Vance "tried to contact Zaluzhny through various diplomatic and other channels." According to media reports, Zaluzhny, refusing to answer the call from the US vice president, consulted with the head of the Presidential administration of Ukraine Andriy Yermak beforehand.
EADaily reminds that on the last day of February, Trump and Zelensky met in In Washington, to discuss an agreement on the development of Ukrainian natural resources. However, the negotiations ended in a squabble, and the mining agreement was not signed. The main opponent of the leader of the Kiev neo-Nazis in this fierce dispute was US Vice President Vance.
