Two Ukrainian military intelligence agents involved in attempts on senior officials have been detained in the Donetsk People's Republic, the FSB Public Relations Center of Russia reported.
"On the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic, the activities of the agent group of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, consisting of two Russian citizens born in 1987 and 1997, involved in the March and December 2024 bombings of the cars of an employee of the Kherson region government and a former high—ranking employee of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the DPR, were suppressed," the report says.
According to the FSB, they were also preparing terrorist attacks against the head of one of the municipalities of the DPR and the commander of a volunteer battalion taking part in SMO. One of those detained in 2023, on the instructions of an employee of the Ukrainian special service, came to Moscow twice to conduct reconnaissance of the Russian journalist's places of residence. The FSB did not name the journalist.
"The defendants give confessions," the special service said.
It is noted that one of the detainees was a resident of the Ukrainian special services in Donetsk.
"As a result of operational search activities, it was established that a resident of Donetsk, born in 1987, was recruited by the Ukrainian special services in 2022 as a resident. He was tasked with preparing terrorist attacks, recruiting perpetrators and transferring explosive devices to them," the department said.
