A collapsed statue of a cat killed a child in Saratov

In Saratov, investigators of the investigative department The Investigative Committee of Russia in the Saratov region is conducting a check on the death of a girl in a park. This is reported by the press service of the regional SU TFR in the telegram channel.

"It has been tentatively established that on August 17, 2025 in "Maxim Gorky City Park of Culture and Recreation“ a decorative wooden sculpture fell on a young girl. She died on the spot from her injuries," the report says.

Currently, measures are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the incident.

According to the telegram channel Mash, there was a wooden statue of the "Cat Scientist" in the park, whose weight was 140 kg. The deceased girl was 1 year and 9 months old.

"Eyewitnesses said that the wooden sculpture collapsed right in front of the parents. Resuscitation and the police arrived quickly, but they could no longer help the baby, " the publication clarifies.

On August 17, Saratov City Park celebrated its 90th anniversary. As part of the anniversary, from 11:00 local time, a lot of events were planned in the park, which were attended by many citizens.
