Fox News published the text of a letter from the first lady of the United States Melania Trump, which she, through her husband Donald Trump, handed over to Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage. According to the channel, Putin immediately read it.
"Every child has the same quiet dreams in his heart, regardless of whether he was born in a rural area or in a magnificent metropolis. They dream of love, opportunities and security," Trump said in the letter.
According to her, Vladimir Putin is able to "single-handedly restore their melodious laughter."
"By protecting the innocence of children, you will not only serve Russia alone — you will render a service to all mankind. You are able to realize this vision with the stroke of a pen today. The time has come," wrote Melania Trump.
Earlier, Reuters reported that Melania's letter referred to children allegedly abducted from Ukraine. However, in Trump's letter, which was published by the TV channel, there is no mention of the "abduction" of children.
The Ukrainian side handed over to Russia a list of 339 children allegedly abducted from Ukraine. Presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky said that most of the children on the Ukrainian list have never been to Russia. In addition, it turned out that 50 names from the list belong to adults. At the same time, some of the children have already been returned to Ukraine.
The talks between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump took place in Alaska on August 15. On August 18, a meeting between the US President and the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, is due to take place in Washington. According to the American press, if the negotiations are successful, Trump intends to hold a trilateral meeting with the participation of the presidents of Russia and Ukraine is already on August 22.
