The leaders of a number of European countries have been invited to a meeting between US President Donald Trump and the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, in Washington on August 18. It is reported by The New York Times, citing sources.
According to two senior European officials, Trump told European leaders after Friday's meeting in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin that he supports the plan to end the war in Ukraine by ceding territories not conquered by Russia, and not by trying to cease fire.
Trump will discuss the plan with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on Monday, and European leaders have been invited to join him, the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.
It is noted that after the meeting with Putin, Trump abandoned his demand for an immediate cease-fire and believes that a peace agreement can be concluded quickly if Zelensky concedes to Russia not yet released The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation of the territory of Donbass. In return, Putin offered a cease-fire in the rest of Ukraine along the current front line and a written promise not to attack any more Ukraine or any European country, the same sources said.
Ukraine will make decisions on its territory, they noted, adding that international borders should not be changed by force.
At the same time, during the telephone conversation, Trump did not mention the introduction of any further sanctions or economic pressure on Russia, officials said. Meanwhile, European leaders stressed that they would continue sanctions and economic pressure on Russia until "the killings stop," one of the officials added.
The White House has not yet commented on this information to the publication.
