The security of the Kaliningrad region will be ensured by Russia "by all necessary means" despite the threats of NATO representatives, said Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
"The Kaliningrad Region is an integral part of our country and in no way subject to any discussion in this context. We will use all necessary means to ensure its safety," the diplomat stressed on the Rossiya-24 TV channel.
As EADaily reported, earlier, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, Alexei Zhuravlev, noted that the Kaliningrad Region is protected by the latest S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems. He called the region an impregnable fortress. Zhuravlev also noted that the proximity of Kaliningrad to the capitals of European countries allows Russia to reserve the right to respond quickly to any aggression from the West.
