The head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, convenes the foreign ministers on Monday. The EU is to discuss the next steps on Ukraine against the background of the upcoming summit of the Presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. It is reported by Reuters.
Callas said that any deal between Washington and Moscow to end the war in Ukraine should include Ukraine and the European Union.
"The United States has the opportunity to force Russia to enter into serious negotiations. Any transaction between the United States and Russia should include Ukraine and the EU, as this is a matter of security for Ukraine and the whole of Europe," Callas said.
Kallas also said that the ministers will discuss the situation in Gaza.
Putin and Trump are scheduled to meet in Alaska next Friday.
As EADaily reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin received what he had been seeking since January — a one-on-one meeting with American leader Donald Trump without the presence of Vladimir Zelensky to present his arguments and conclude a deal on Ukraine. This was reported by The New York Times.
