Russia may invest in the restoration of the railway between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the background of the "Trump Route for Peace and Prosperity" project, which will pass through Armenian territory to the Azerbaijani exclave. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"Now the railways of Armenia are managed by the Russian side (a subsidiary of Russian Railways). Perhaps the Russian side will be interested in investments to restore the Ijevan—Hrazdan, Ijevan—Gazakh railway. Here, of course, the consent of the Azerbaijani side will be needed," Pashinyan suggested.
According to him, the project will be a good opportunity to start economic cooperation between Iran, the United States and Russia. Pashinyan recalled that an Iranian company is building highways in Armenia as part of the North—South project.
As EADaily reported , following Pashinyan's meeting with the presidents of the United States and Azerbaijan , Donald Trump and Ilham Aliyev , in Washington adopted a declaration on the initialing by the Foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan of an agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between the two countries.
According to experts, as a result of the construction of the "Trump Bridge" in a few months, the largest NATO base may appear 30 km from the Russian Derbent. If Russia is tactically pushed back from the South Caucasus, this will inevitably lead to destabilization already in the North Caucasus.
