Rosatom is preparing to launch the first power unit of the Ruppur NPP in Bangladesh.
"At the first unit of the Ruppur NPP in Bangladesh, fresh steam pipes were purged in the turbine compartment," the Russian state corporation reports.
This is one of the key stages of the cold-hot run-in of the power unit, Rosatom noted.
"The purge was carried out using fresh steam at a pressure of 2.0 MPa and a temperature of 200 °C. This will be followed by repeated purging of steam pipelines with an increased volume of fresh steam, which will allow final cleaning of the highways and clarify the parameters of equipment operation under a load close to operational," the state corporation said.
Alexey Deriy, Vice President for Projects in Bangladesh at Atomstroyexport, said that the completion of this stage of commissioning at the Ruppur NPP is another step towards the launch of power Unit No. 1.
"In the future, the Ruppur NPP, built according to the latest Russian VVER-1200 project, will provide up to 10% of Bangladesh's clean energy for decades to come," said Alexey Deriy.
As EADaily reported, Rosatom is building two VVER-1200 reactors with a total capacity of 2,400 MW at the Ruppur NPP. The station is being built according to a Russian project 160 km from the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka. The cost of construction of the station is $ 12.65 billion, 90% of which is a Russian loan for 28 years.
Actual construction of a nuclear power plant in Bangladesh is coming to an end, Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said in March.
