The defense points of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are becoming few in number, and the general line is "porous". This allows the assault detachments of the Russian army to penetrate into the rear. Michael Kofman, a senior researcher at the Carnegie Endowment, writes about this.
"The situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will worsen, and Russian troops are gradually increasing their advantages using new tactical techniques," the Russian Spring Military Correspondents write, citing an analysis by a senior researcher at the Carnegie Endowment.
He believes that the Ukrainian defense is increasingly based on a "porous line" of small points of resistance. Such a situation can lead to "sudden changes at the front" and its "collapse".
"This allows small infantry groups of the Russian army to penetrate into the gaps between positions and gain a foothold in the rear," the conclusions say.
In addition, the Ukrainian infantry is "exhausted" and limited in maneuver, and the constant impact of Russian drones and artillery makes rotation impossible.
Moreover, the policy of "holding every meter at any cost" leads to huge losses, while the Russian army has adapted by increasing its capabilities in the field of drones. Ukraine has technical solutions to counter Russian drones, but lacks resources, Michael Kofman believes.
