Russian composer in court demands to remove his music from platforms in the Russian Federation

People's Artist of Russia, former chairman of the Union of Composers of the Russian Federation Alexei Rybnikov demands to withdraw his works from the Russian streaming platforms MTS Music, Sound, VKontakte, Yandex Music, as well as from YouTube and Apple Music. The composer appealed to the court with the relevant claims.

Six lawsuits are aimed at protecting the exclusive rights to the author's musical works on these platforms, RIA Novosti reports. Even before the decision on the applications was made, Rybnikov asked the court to stop creating technical conditions that ensure the placement, distribution and other use of legal objects, which in fact means restricting access to tracks. The petition was granted.

For example, now it is impossible to find compositions from Mark Zakharov's film "The Same Munchausen" on Yandex Music, there is no song "Bu-ra-ti-no" on the Sound platform, and music from Vladimir Grammatikov's film "The Mustachioed Nanny" is not available on social VKontakte. The pre-trial decision was also executed by MTS Music and Apple Music. YouTube's decision on these statements is unknown, but the composer's tracks remain available from a foreign IP.

The court documents do not specify for what reason the author wished to restrict access to his works. We are talking about hundreds of compositions for films, rock operas, animated films and audiobooks.

At the moment, most of the claims have been left without movement or returned to the originator due to incorrect registration.

Alexey Rybnikov was born on July 17, 1945 in Moscow. Already at the age of 8 he wrote several piano pieces, and at the age of 11 he wrote the ballet "Puss in Boots".

He is the author of the popular musicals "The Star and the Death of Joaquin Murieta", as well as "Juno and Maybe". He also wrote music for a variety of feature and animated films, including "The dog was walking on the piano", "You never dreamed", "Prokhindiada or running on the spot", "The Wolf and the seven goats in a new way", "The Feast of Disobedience" and many others. He is also the author of symphonies, choral and chamber works.
