US President Donald Trump is posing as a disappointed mediator, although it is obvious that in order to resolve the Ukrainian conflict it is necessary to eliminate its causes. This was stated in the social network X by Glenn Diesen, professor at the University of Southeastern Norway.
This is how he commented on today's statement by the American president that he is reducing the 50-day deadline set by him for a peace deal with Ukraine to 10-12 days.
"Trump is playing the role of a frustrated mediator. It's a theater. He must understand that Russia will not stop the war until NATO stops expanding. Russia has consistently adhered to this goal since 2014, when the United States started the conflict, depriving Ukraine of neutrality," writes Dizen, quoted by RIA Novosti.
As reported by EADaily, US President Donald Trump is playing a game of ultimatums with Russia, which may cost him dearly. This was stated on the social network by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.
This is how he commented on Trump's statement today that he was shortening the 50-day deadline set by him earlier to achieve a truce between the Russian Federation and Ukraine for up to 10-12 days.
Recall, US President Donald Trump admitted the possibility of a deal with Moscow on Ukraine, threatening secondary sanctions and duties if the conflict could not be resolved in the near future. He said this at a press conference following a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Turnberry (Scotland).
Trump announced that from July 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin will have no more than 12 days to cease fire on Ukraine. Initially, the deadline was 50 days and was supposed to end on September 3.
