Baku is waiting for Moscow to recognize responsibility for the crash of the Embraer E190 aircraft of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) on December 24 last year near Aktau in Kazakhstan. This was stated by Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan — head of the Foreign Policy Department of the presidential administration, in an interview with the German edition of Berliner Zeitung.
"This situation (tension. — Ed.) in relations between Azerbaijan and Russia arose after the crash of the AZAL plane. The incident occurred on the territory of Russia, in the airspace of Russia, and we know how it happened. It's not a secret. Azerbaijan, as a neighboring state and a partner state, expects Russia to take responsibility and ensure justice in this matter," Hajiyev said, quoted by RIA Novosti.
Recall, the investigation of the case is still ongoing.
As reported by EADaily, Baku is preparing an international lawsuit against Russia in the case of the AZAL plane crash. This was stated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at a meeting with participants of the III Shusha Global Media Forum, the Azerbaijani Report agency reported.
