Army General Pavel Popov, as Deputy Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, built himself a house and a bathhouse at the expense of the ministry. This was stated at a meeting of the Odintsovo garrison Court, where the case of fraud in the construction of the Patriot Park is being considered, TASS reports.
"At the expense of the Ministry of Defense and the Patriot Park at the Popov site in The Zvezda Co-op near Krasnogorsk was illegally built a two—storey residential house, a bathhouse, a dwelling, a garage, a fence was created, a video surveillance system was installed, furniture and plumbing were purchased for these facilities," said an employee of the Main Military Prosecutor's Office indictment.
The total amount of damage to the state exceeded 25 million rubles.
As reported by EADaily, in the case of embezzlement of funds allocated for the construction of the Patriot Park, the defendants are Popov, ex-director of the park Vyacheslav Akhmedov, deputy head of the Department of innovative development of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Vladimir Shesterov. According to the prosecution, they entered false information in the documents about the completion of construction at Patriot and stole over 25 million rubles. As a result, the damage to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation was assessed as particularly large.
Akhmedov and Shesterov fully admitted their guilt and made deals with the investigation. The investigation of the criminal case against Popov continues.
