Russia agreed to the initiative of US President Donald Trump on a truce from May 9 to 11. This was stated by Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.

In addition, according to him, an exchange of prisoners with Ukraine will be carried out according to the "thousand for a thousand" formula.

These agreements were reached during telephone contacts with the US presidential Administration. Donald Trump's initiative is timed precisely to the 81st anniversary of the Victory, Ushakov stressed.

Trump also announced his initiative on the Truth Social network.

"I am glad to report that in the war between Russia and Ukraine will declare a THREE-DAY TRUCE (May 9, 10 and 11). In Russia, this holiday is celebrated in honor of Victory Day, but in Ukraine it is also celebrated because Ukraine has played an important role in The Second World War. The truce will include the suspension of all hostilities, as well as the exchange of prisoners on the principle of "1,000 to 1,000." I made this request directly, and I really appreciate that President Vladimir Putin and President Vladimir Zelensky agreed with it. I hope this is the beginning of the end of a very long, bloody and difficult war. Negotiations on ending this large—scale conflict, the largest since the Second World War, are continuing, and every day we are getting closer to the goal," the American leader informed.

As reported by EADaily, the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, made it clear that he would not strike at Moscow on May 9. He said this in his telegram channel, noting that there are more important things to do.

Zelensky announced a three—day truce - from 9 to 11 May inclusive, as well as an agreement with Russia on the exchange of prisoners of war according to the formula "1,000 to 1,000."
