The conflict between Ukraine and Russia can last for years if it continues "in the same spirit." This was stated by the President of the Czech Republic Peter Pavel.
In an interview with the BBC, he said that Russia had occupied "some parts of Ukrainian territory, but at the cost of great sacrifices and losses."
"So far, the Ukrainian defense has been successful, because they are causing huge damage to the Russian troops. They are able to hold positions, especially in important places for Ukraine. And if the war continues in the same spirit, it will last for years. This state of affairs is unacceptable for everyone," he said.
The Czech President also noted that, in addition to supporting Ukraine, it is also important to exert maximum pressure against Russia and demonstrate that "there is no victory on the battlefield."
Recall, the Czech Republic condemns Russia's actions on Ukraine and strongly supports Kiev. The Czech authorities organized a search and purchase of ammunition for the Ukrainian military outside the EU. In 2025, Ukraine is expected to receive 1.8 million shells under this initiative.
