People's Artist of Russia Philip Kirkorov addressed Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The video of the appeal was published on the singer's account on the social network.
Kirkorov announced the persecution of the Armenian Apostolic Church and his friend, businessman Samvel Karapetyan. According to the artist, Karapetyan was arrested on "completely absurd and far-fetched charges."
Kirkorov also found it necessary to remind the Armenian Prime Minister of one of the ten commandments when it comes to the church: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor."
The artist recalled that Karapetyan always treated his homeland of Armenia with love and care, more than once personally stood up for the oppressed, financially supported socially significant projects for people, never declared his intentions to enter any political camp.
"I ask you to stop the persecution of Samvela, stop political repression of the church and clergy," Kirkorov concluded.
He called on the executive authorities to take up their direct duties, and not to attack the clergy and people revered in Armenia.
It should be recalled that Kirkorov's real name is Krikorian, his father Bedros Kirkorov was born into an Armenian family in Bulgaria. The artist has repeatedly proudly emphasized the connection with Armenia.
As EADaily reported, last week Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan was arrested in Yerevan, who had previously opposed the persecution of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC), which defends the right of Armenians to Karabakh and their own identity.
Later, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan was arrested, as well as other clergy of the Armenian Apostolic Church, against which Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took up arms. They are accused under articles on terrorism, riots and usurpation of power. Galstanyan's defense called these accusations ridiculous, and the process itself was a political persecution.
