Readers of the Japanese newspaper Mainichi Shimbun ridiculed NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte for his words about the Russian threat and the need to increase military spending. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

Speaking at a conference in London this week, Rutte told representatives of the alliance's member countries that if they do not increase military spending to five percent of GDP, they should start learning Russian. In his opinion, Russia may be ready for a military conflict with the alliance within five years.

Readers of the Japanese newspaper that published the material about this reacted to the statements of the NATO Secretary General with sharp comments.

"The EU countries are throwing such loud statements and harsh notes for one simple reason: they are afraid of Russia. These are unsuccessful countries that only know what to whine, whine and whine," the agency quotes one of them.
"If NATO does not go to the east and does not interfere in Russia's affairs, they have nothing to fear. But the Secretary General is obliged to convince everyone of the terrible, terrible Russian threat, otherwise he will not get any money in the budget or the authority of the authorities," writes another commentator.
"NATO is in its repertoire: "There is no time to explain. Just give me money," notes the third.
"It is NATO that violates international law on Ukraine, and not at all Russia. They used depleted uranium ammunition, fired about 15 tons, and they didn't give a damn about the UN. They imprison and torture innocent civilians. It's time to stop this horror," the next comment says.
"What a great chance to redistribute the NATO budget! Not everyone can do that," concludes another reader.

In his recent speeches, the NATO Secretary General has repeatedly drawn attention to the so-called threats emanating from Russia and China. He calls on the member countries of the alliance to significantly increase military spending by reducing social programs.
