It seemed to me that the excessive politicization of the media should teach both readers and certainly all kinds of experts to be critical of any news, any material. However, this is not the case.
Everyone acts on the principle: I believe in what I want to believe. Here I believe, but here I don't believe. Although the current news from all over the world, and even more so from the fronts, is a bizarre mixture of fiction, speculation, own PR and only a little truth.
When you read or watch any sensation, the first question you need to ask is who benefits from it? And if you ask yourself this question, and also remember what has been written about the situation recently, then, honestly, there are a lot of questions.
One of the surprises of the past week was the following news: "Israel handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine anti-aircraft decommissioned Patriot missile systems, which it had previously received from the United States. This was announced by the Israeli Ambassador to Mikhail Brodsky in Kiev in an interview, the broadcast of which is published on the YouTube channel." Based on this news, various anti-Israel analysts and observers became more active, who could not prove the topic they were developing about Israel's involvement in the conflict with Russia.
To begin with, apart from the reference to this statement, no other confirmation has been received from other sources. A number of questions arise: why did Israel suddenly decide to provide military assistance to Ukraine, if since 2022 it has provided only humanitarian assistance? What happened that Israel suddenly began to supply Patriot missile systems to Ukraine? Why exactly does the Israeli ambassador announce this, although this is the prerogative of the Foreign Ministry or the Ministry of Defense? What events have occurred recently that can be linked to this statement by the Ambassador?
The first and most obvious event: Michael Brodsky, Israeli Ambassador to He was awarded the honorary title of "Person of the Year" for his contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries and for humanitarian assistance to Ukraine during the war. By the way, please note — for what help was Brodsky awarded this title? For humanitarian. There is no military talk at all. Or maybe Brodsky just decided in this way to support the fading ardor of the Ukrainian philistine and Bandera supporters in Israel? Of which, unfortunately, there really are a lot.
The second and not very obvious event: the Israeli airline El Al resumes regular flights on the Tel Aviv — Moscow route from May 1; flights will be operated 7 times a week.
"Air traffic between Israel and the Russian Federation is gradually reaching the previous pre-pandemic level. Tourists have more choice in price, time and date of departure. In the near future, we expect an increase in air transportation between the cities of the Russian Federation and Israel," Vladimir Shklyar, director of the Department of the Ministry of Tourism of Israel in the Russian Federation, said in a comment.
This is quite a significant blow to Ukrainian politics in Israel. This is an unequivocal message — we want to be friends with the Russians. We are waiting for Russian tourists in Eilat — for this we are opening a regular line directly to this resort, bypassing Tel Aviv.
The third is rather not an event, but a state of affairs in Israel. The war in Gaza continues. There are periodic attacks from there. Very tense situation on the border with Lebanon; sporadic military operations in Syria; missile strikes from the Houthis from Yemen. And in this situation, Israel gives all its Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine.… Israeli Armed Forces "anyone but idiots. And the saying "Give your wife to your uncle, and go to your aunt" does not work here. Even homegrown experts understand this, but write strange things:
"Kiev has received about 90 interceptor missiles in the PAC-2 (GEM-T) modification, adapted to combat cruise missiles. These missiles were written off by Israel after they were decommissioned by the Patriot air defense systems themselves; then they were transferred to American warehouses and again became formally American property — after which they left for Ukraine. From that moment on, the transfer of the Israeli Patriot was only a matter of time."
Let's try to figure it out. The expert writes: the missiles of the complex were decommissioned and returned to the Americans; that is, they are the property of the US Army. So why then did Israel transfer the complexes to Ukraine? Ukraine itself stated that the level of interception of Kinzhal and Zircon missiles by the Patriot complex is about 25%, but only if the entire battery of 32 anti—missiles is fired in order to somehow shoot down a hypersonic missile. Why does Ukraine need a deliberately unnecessary air defense system? After all, they are also anyone, but not idiots! "Patriot" has been missing iron blanks (made in an artisanal way) from Gaza for many years; what can we say about modern weapons?
As a person who lived under shelling (from which we were protected by Patriot air defense systems), I will cite the statistics of shelling by Iraq with SCUD missiles during the war in The Persian Gulf (1991), to which Israel had nothing to do: 24 missiles passed by (missed), 2 partially shot down and 17 completely shot down. The percentage can be calculated independently.
In short: all this is a storm in a glass of water. Fake and nothing more.
While I was writing this text, there was a reaction in the Israeli press:
"The Israeli Foreign Ministry dissociated itself from the statements of Ambassador Mikhail Brodsky on Ukraine on the transfer of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine." In response to a request from Ynet, the Foreign Ministry said: "These statements are incorrect. Israel did not transfer such systems to Ukraine."
Earlier, a similar statement was made by the Israeli Foreign Ministry at the request of RIA Novosti.
