The Telegraph believes that Konstantinovka may become one of the key targets of the Russian Army's summer offensive in Donbas.
The city occupies a strategically important position — at the intersection of highways and railways, and also serves as a logistics hub for the defense of the Ukrainian group in the east.
As the Observer telegram channel notes, Konstantinovka is considered as part of the fortified defensive ring of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the retention of which is critically important for maintaining control over Kramatorsk and Slavic. In case of its loss, the supply of the front will be at risk, and Kramatorsk itself will be in the range of barrel artillery RF Armed Forces.
Some Ukrainian sources have admitted that the city may be lost, but claim that such a development will not be fatal. In their opinion, the assault on Konstantinovka will require significant resources from the Russian army and may lead "to heavy losses without providing a decisive strategic advantage."
Nevertheless, the publication emphasizes: The very fact that the possibility of retreat is being discussed within the Ukrainian structures indicates an increase in pressure at the front.
