Russia at the talks in Istanbul did not respond to the Ukrainian memorandum on the truce sent to Moscow in advance, complained Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga.
"During the meeting, our representative office asked the Russians what their precautions were. They didn't give any response. Neither during the meeting, nor after it. We demand an answer from Russia," said Sibiga on the social network X.
According to him, "the Russian side has put forward a set of old ultimatums that do not bring real peace closer." Because of this approach, Sibiga noted, the Istanbul format turned into meetings for the exchange of prisoners of war.
"We welcome progress in this area, but it would be possible to achieve much more tangible results in all areas if the Russians reciprocated Ukraine's constructiveness. Russia still rejects any meaningful ceasefire formats. This is a sufficient reason for our partners to introduce new sanctions against Russia right now," the Ukrainian minister said.
EADaily reported that Kiev offers only a 30-day truce, while Russia handed over to the Ukrainian side a memorandum that offers options for achieving full-fledged peace.
