In the memorandum handed over to Ukraine, Russia demanded the withdrawal of troops from the entire territory of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions as a condition of a ceasefire. It is reported by Axios with reference to reports of Russian officials.
"Russia's position set out in the peace memorandum remains the same and includes demands for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops," the publication says.
The second round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul was held on June 2. The meeting of the delegations lasted more than an hour.
As EADaily reported, the head of the Russian delegation at the talks with Ukraine, Vladimir Medinsky, following the results of the second round of negotiations, said that a memorandum had been handed over to the Ukrainian side, which consists of two parts — how to achieve a real long-term peace and how to achieve a full-fledged ceasefire.
