Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, whom US President Donald Trump appointed head of the Department of State Efficiency (DOGE) from the beginning of his tenure in the White House, issued a new batch of revelations about disagreements with the boss and his administration in the White House, which made him feel cornered.
"It's hard for me to talk about this in an interview because my words often become a bone of contention. I'm a little bit cornered because I wouldn't want to speak out against the administration, but I also wouldn't want to take responsibility for everything the administration does. So I'm kind of cornered, you know?" — he said in a published fragment of an interview with CBS News, which was recorded before his retirement from public service.
Musk noted that he largely agrees with the policy of the Trump team, but they "have disagreements." He mentioned, in particular, the bill proposed by the US president to reduce government spending, which the American leader calls "a big beautiful bill."
"I think the bill can be either big or beautiful, but I doubt that it can be both at the same time. This is my personal opinion," the businessman said, quoted by TASS.
The full version of the interview will be aired on June 1.
Earlier, Musk posted a publication on the social network X, in which he noted that "the time allotted to [him] as a special government employee is coming to an end," while noting that the role of his brainchild — DOGE — will only grow over time.
In April, the entrepreneur announced that from May he would reduce his participation in the work of DOGE. This happened after Tesla reported a 71% drop in its net profit in the first quarter of 2025 compared to last year. Analysts attribute the decline in revenue, among other things, to the damage caused to the company by the businessman's political activities as a DOGE curator.
