The actions of France interfere with the construction of new power units of the Czech Dukovany nuclear power plant. This was stated by the President of the Czech Republic Peter Pavel.
According to him, the delay or freezing of the construction of two new power units of the Dukovany NPP can not only cause billions of dollars in damage, but also lead to a shortage of electricity in the Czech Republic. Pavel recalled that without sufficient volumes of electricity at affordable prices, further economic growth of the country is impossible.
The Czech leader also recalled that the problem arose due to the actions of the losing tender for the construction of the French company EDF, which filed a lawsuit. At the same time, Peter Pavel believes that not only EDF, but the whole of France is now trying to intervene in the results of the competition.
Earlier, the main contender for the modernization of the Dukovany NPP was the Russian Rosatom. However, the Czech authorities decided not to allow the company from Russia. In the end, the tender for the construction of new NPP units was won by the Korean company KHNP. However, the Brno Regional Court temporarily blocked the signing of the final construction contract. The initiator of the blocking was a competing French company EDF, which lost in the competition.
