"Forgetful make-believe major": Senora Isinbayeva owes Russia a lot of money

Russian track and field athlete, two-time Olympic champion Elena Isinbayeva, it turns out, has large debts to the state after leaving the country. The "make—believe major's wife" has not paid for housing and communal services in her Moscow apartments for the second year: Elena Gadzhievna owes 336 thousand rubles for housing on Rusakovskaya Street, and 65 thousand for mansions in the Aquatoria residential complex.

In addition, Isinbayeva has a debt to the Federal Tax Service, which amounts to about 1.67 million rubles.

Two-time Olympic champion Dmitry Vasiliev commented on reports about the debts of the legendary pole vaulter:

"Of course, first of all you need to be a law-abiding citizen of your country. Without a doubt, it is necessary to pay taxes, if they are accrued. It can't even be discussed. It is difficult to comment on why she does not do this. Perhaps she disagrees with something and is trying to challenge these amounts. While this is bare information, only Isinbayeva herself can comment on what happened there. And then law enforcement agencies will figure out if the violation really took place. We must be responsible for this. Again, while the information is not the most prepared. But if everything is really trivial, you have to pay taxes and move on. Even on the moon."

Olympic champion, State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova also did not stay away from discussing debts:

"I suppose it's just carelessness. I don't think she did it deliberately. It's possible that the payment just didn't arrive, Public Services didn't work, or something like that. Believe me, many of us have some debts that we simply did not see — a conditional three thousand, for which they are already being sued. It happens that I didn't notice the payment in the mailbox and that's it. Perhaps Isinbayeva should have just asked one of her relatives in Russia to do this, because it's not a fact that our applications work abroad.
I'm not exactly defending her, but there are just people who are not very competent in such matters. We even had a dictation called "Housing and communal services" just in time, and that's where people were once again told what to do and how to follow up. Because not everyone is well versed in this. Isinbayeva could simply not think about it.
The problem in payment could easily have taken place. I have friends who live abroad, and they ask me to repay something for them in Russia, because they do not have payment through the bank. This has also happened. I also know the moments with taxes when they ask to repay due to various failures and non-passing payments. I just want to show from my own experience that it is not a fact that Elena is running away from responsibility and does not want to be law-abiding. There is a suspicion that this is just disorganization on her part. It is possible that she has put apartments where she does not pay utility bills for sale, and the buyer will pay off these debts on account of the amount. Here, of course, we are guessing for her. Perhaps if the media now remind her about these debts, and she will close everything. You shouldn't put labels on it."

Isinbayeva does not live in Russia from 2021. Now the former world champion lives on the Spanish island of Tenerife with her husband, former javelin thrower Nikita Petinov, daughter Eva and son Dobryna.

The ex-athlete has a residence permit in the Canary Islands. Telegram channel SHOT reported that she bought a townhouse in Spain with a mortgage of about 200 sq. m.

According to local media, the family nest is located in an elite residential complex in the municipality of Arona. The family also has a property in the resort town of Callao Salvaje in the south of Tenerife and a car.

In the summer of 2023, Isinbayeva responded to the publication of El Digital Sur about her life in Tenerife. Journalists wrote that in 2015, a representative of CSKA received the rank of major and allegedly was a member of the United Russia party.

In 2017, she joined the Putin Team movement and was included in the working group on the preparation of amendments to The Constitution. Commenting on the article, the legendary athlete stated that she has a nominal relationship with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.:

"In Russia, as in any other country in Europe, every athlete belongs to one club or another. Until 2018, I played for CSKA and was awarded high awards and titles for outstanding sporting achievements. The titles that are being talked about today are nominal in nature, since I am not and have never been in the service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Just as I have never been a State Duma deputy or a member of any party."

Here is such a nominal Russian woman with a very selective memory and extraordinary abilities to adapt to any circumstances. Well, taxes, of course, must be paid. To sleep peacefully on stuffy Tenerife nights.
