Former US President Joe Biden expressed the opinion that one of the reasons for the defeat of Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election was the sexism and racism she faced from the Americans.
"I wasn't surprised, and not because I didn't think the vice president was the most suitable candidate for the presidency... I wasn't surprised because they went down the path of sexism, along this whole path," the former president said in an interview with ABC.
Speaking about Harris' future in politics, Biden expressed hope that she will continue to participate in this process. However, he did not disclose exactly how he sees her future.
Many longtime supporters of Harris told ABC News in March that they were not very optimistic about her possible presidential nomination in 2028. Despite the fact that in the last election between her and Trump had a small gap — 3.6%. Some of the Democrats even called for a complete break with the Biden-Harris administration and for the party to think about finding new leaders.
