More than half of Lithuania's residents plan to cut costs due to rising heating bills. This is evidenced by the survey data commissioned by Citadele Bank.
It is reported that in 2025 the cost of heating in large cities of Lithuania should increase by 2% compared to last year. Starting in 2026, prices may rise even more due to an increase in VAT. In this regard, 36% of residents plan to reduce "comfort expenses" in order to cover heating bills. They are willing to travel less often, attend events or make large purchases. Another 18% will have to limit even the most necessary daily expenses, such as food or medicine, and 4% will not be able to pay for heating services at all.
Earlier, Lithuania received energy resources from Russia. Now official Vilnius proudly declares its complete rejection of Russian gas and electricity.
