The decree of Vladimir Zelensky on the removal from office of the head of the Constitutional Court, Alexander Tupitsky, was declared illegal by the Supreme Court of Ukraine.
"The Supreme Court of Ukraine declared illegal and canceled Zelensky's decree of 2021 on the removal of the head of the Constitutional Court, Alexander Tupitsky," the Observer telegram channel reports, citing the judge's lawyers. He also published copies of the documents.
"The court ruled that the president does not have the authority to remove the judges of the Constitutional Court," the Observer noted.
"A victory that matters not only for our client, but also for the entire legal system of Ukraine," said Leshchenko and Partners, a law firm that defended the interests of the head of the Constitutional Court.
Earlier, in 2023, the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court has already issued two decisions on the cancellation of similar decrees of Zelensky in the case of Alexander Tupitsky.
