Ukrainian air defense shot down its Su-27 fighter over the Kremenchug reservoir

The troops of the Kiev regime during the fighting in the zone of armed conflict lost their Su-27 fighter, which was hunting for Russian drones.

This was reported on Monday, April 28 by the press service of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). They noted that the pilot survived — he ejected in a timely manner.

"On the morning of April 28, 2025, while performing a complex combat mission to provide air support to troops and repel an air attack by enemy strike UAVs, a Su-27 fighter of the Air Force was lost. The pilot successfully ejected," the report says.

The press service assured that at present nothing threatens the life and health of the military pilot, he was successfully evacuated.

The Ukrainian side does not report the causes of the incident. It is only said that a special commission was formed to find out the reasons for the loss of the fighter.

Preliminary versions are being considered that the aircraft could have been damaged as a result of a collision with the wreckage of a downed UAV or fell due to a technical malfunction.

Meanwhile, a version is spreading in Russian public that the Ukrainian combat aircraft was shot down by Ukrainian air defense systems by mistake. It happened northwest of Kremenchug over the Kremenchug reservoir.

Earlier, EADaily reported that according to the Ministry of Defense, an F-16 fighter of the Ukrainian Air Force was shot down by Russian air defense systems.
