More than 700 citizens of Belarus are fighting on the side of Russia in the zone of the special military operation. This was stated by representatives of one of the Ukrainian projects.
According to Ukrainians, as of the beginning of 2025, there were at least 742 people with Belarusian passports in the Russian army. The authors of the publication note that the real number may be much higher, since the statistics do not include Belarusians with dual citizenship. At the same time, it is argued that unlike citizens from other CSTO countries, where the main motivating factor is the financial component, in the case of Belarusians, the ideological component plays a decisive role.
Recall, Russia holds on Ukraine has been conducting a special military operation since February 24, 2022. Officially, Belarus does not participate in SMO. At the same time, Minsk supports all Moscow's actions.
