The US State Department canceled the allocation of funds within the framework of foreign grant aid projects totaling $ 215 million, including for the Belarusian opposition. This was announced by the American Department of Public Efficiency (DOGE).
It is reported that Secretary of State Marco Rubio continued to review the allocation of foreign aid through the State Department.
"Today, 139 useless grants worth $215 million were canceled, including... $ 2.4 million for 'Responding to disinformation through creative content in Belarus,'" DOGE said in a statement.
Financing from The United States also lost projects in Armenia, Bulgaria, Brazil, England, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Mauritania, Moldova, Tunisia, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka.
Earlier, the Belarusian opposition lived only at the expense of various Western grants. However, after the head of DOGE, Elon Musk, said that the US Agency for International Development Assistance (USAID) should cease to exist, opponents of Alexander Lukashenko had serious problems. As a result, various opposition human rights projects and "independent" media began to close.
