Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico will attend the Victory Day Parade in Moscow on May 9, and no one can forbid him. He stated this on his Facebook account*.
So Fico commented on the threats of the head of the European diplomacy Kai Kallas, who promised "consequences" to those EU countries whose leaders will take part in events in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in the capital of Russia.
"EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs K. Kallas warns leaders The EU refused to participate in the celebration of Victory Day in May in Moscow… I am going to Moscow on May 9... Ms. Kallas, I would like to inform you that I am the legitimate Prime Minister of Slovakia, a sovereign state. No one can tell me where I should or should not travel. I will go to Moscow to pay tribute to the thousands of Red Army soldiers who died during the liberation of Slovakia. As well as millions of other victims of Nazi revelry.
Just like I paid my respects to the victims of the Normandy landings or in the Pacific, or how I will go and pay my respects to the pilots of the Royal Air Force. And I remind you that, as one of the few in the EU, I constantly talk about the need for peace in the Ukraine and I am not among the ardent supporters of the continuation of this senseless war. The words of Ms. Callas are disrespectful, and I object to them," writes Fico, quoted by Strana.
As reported by EADaily, EU countries and EU membership candidates, whose representatives will visit Moscow on May 9 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, will face consequences. This was stated the day before at a press conference following the meeting of the foreign ministers of the community, the head of the European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas.
