Levan Machavariani, a member of the parliamentary majority, told about the frustration of supporters of the founder of the United National Movement Mikhail Saakashvili, whose expectations were deceived by ex-President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili.
"Salome Zurabishvili tried to try on the role of Saakashvili and become the leader of the collective "National Movement"... They followed her, but found themselves outside the parliament, and the protests did not change anything. Their energy is completely exhausted," Machavariani said.
According to him, frustration reigns among Saakashvili's supporters regarding Zurabishvili. The opposition is waiting for instructions from external curators, but they are not there yet.
"As you can see, she promised some financial revenues, planned to bring 120 million euros from the EU in favor of NGOs, but could not do it and now there is frustration in her address. The opposition is waiting for what instructions will come from outside, but, apparently, the process is being delayed. Probably, those bureaucrats who give instructions are now busy with issues of another level. Most likely, secondary countries, such as the Baltic States and so on, are involved in the transmission of these instructions. The opposition is confused, they don't know what the next steps will be," Levan Machavariani said.
However, in another part of the Georgian opposition, Zurabishvili still has hopes for a change of power in the country. It was called the most important tool in the hands of the opposition. The leader of the Akhali party, Nika Gvaramia, speaking about the role of Zurabishvili, noted that her figure is a key element in the opposition's strategy.
"We did not all immediately fall in love with Salome Zurabishvili, but Salome Zurabishvili is a very important tool for the survival of this country, and maybe even decisive. We, as political parties, patriots and citizens of this country, will not give up on this," Gvaramia said.
As EADaily reported, on the eve of the Tbilisi City Court issued a verdict in another case against Saakashvili. Provided that no new charges are brought against the convict, he will spend a total of 12 years and six months in prison.
