As part of the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, the issue of Kiev's actual abandonment of territories in exchange for security guarantees is currently being discussed. Such a conclusion can be drawn from the statement on the air of the ABC television channel by Mike Waltz, adviser to the President of the United States on national security, the Strana newspaper writes.
"The question is what will be the territorial settlement in exchange for future security guarantees, as well as what will be the status of Ukraine in the future," Waltz said.
According to him, Ukraine's membership in NATO is unlikely and other members of the bloc adhere to this position.
Waltz also said that in Washington is considering the conditions of Russian President Vladimir Putin for a ceasefire, the answer will be given in the coming days.
"We have heard from President Putin that he will definitely consider a ceasefire. There is something else that he would like to see and that President Trump's national security team will consider in the coming days," Waltz said.
As reported by EADaily, Donald Trump expects that it will take several weeks to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, and the leaders of the Russian Federation and the United States will call next week. This was stated on CNN by special envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff.
