In Daugavpils, Latvia, the concerts of two performers who were included in the "list of undesirable persons" for singing songs in Russian have been canceled.
We are talking about the Romanian-Moldovan singer Ion Ionita and the Kazakh Zhandauren Ablaev. The first one is known as "Romanian Yura Shatunov" because of the similarity, the second one "shot" in 2024 with the hit "Give flowers to women". The repertoire of the Kazakh singer was described by Latvian Russophobes in social networks as "top-quality Russian songs." The head of the Daugavpils Palace of Culture Astrida Leszczynska told reporters:
"As for the March 9 event, [Ablaev] is an artist with Kazakh roots, and it would just be necessary to study the available, and possibly inaccessible, information more carefully."
The official assured that henceforth, before announcing the event, she would seek advice from The State Security Service of Latvia. Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Baltic Republic urged concert organizers to "check more carefully" which musicians they invite.
