The UAE and Egypt were outraged by Netanyahu's joke about the Palestinian state

The UAE strongly condemns the "reprehensible and provocative" statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the creation of a Palestinian State in Saudi Arabia, said the Emirati Foreign Ministry.

The ministry said in a statement that the UAE categorically rejects any encroachments on the inalienable rights of Palestinians and any attempts to relocate them to other countries, and also emphasizes that Saudi sovereignty is perceived as a "red line."

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry also condemned the words of the Israeli prime minister, who considered the statement "irresponsible" and also stressed its support for the sovereignty of Saudi Arabia.

The reason for the comments of the Egyptian and Emirati Foreign Ministries was Netanyahu's ironic remark, which he made during an interview for the Israeli Channel 14. The journalist mistakenly said "Saudi state" instead of "Palestinian state," to which the prime minister corrected him: "Palestinian state," and then added with a smile: "Unless, of course, you don't want the Palestinian state to be in Saudi Arabia, they have a large territory."

Netanyahu promised not to agree to the terms of normalization of relations with Saudi Arabia, which would endanger Israel.

"Especially the Palestinian state. After October 7th? Do you know what it is? There was a Palestinian state, it was called Gaza. Gaza, led by Hamas, was a Palestinian state, and look what we got — the biggest massacre since the Holocaust," the Israeli prime minister said.

The Saudi authorities refuse to establish diplomatic relations with Israel without creating a Palestinian state. This position is expressed clearly and unambiguously without the possibility of any other interpretation under any circumstances, said Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The proposal to resettle the Palestinians was put forward by US President Donald Trump, who in recent weeks spoke about plans to move the Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan, where houses would be built for them, and also promised to make the Gaza Strip a "Middle Eastern Riviera." Egypt, Jordan and the leadership of the Palestinian Authority rejected his plans.
