The head of the parliamentary faction of the right-wing French party "National Union" Marine Le Pen said she does not rule out the resignation of French President Emmanuel Macron before the expiration of his powers.
Previously by Marine Le Pen also stated that, in her opinion, France is waiting for another dissolution of parliament. According to the country's constitution, it is possible only a year after the previous one, that is, in June 2025.
"It seems to me that the demand for the resignation of the President of the Republic does not correspond to our state institutions, but I do not rule it out" — said Le Pen in an interview with LCI TV channel.
At the same time Le Pen added that the less time Macron stays in power, the better it will be for the "National Unification".
In 2024, four prime ministers were replaced in France, which was a record in French history. After the dissolution of parliament and the early parliamentary elections in July, in which no faction gained an absolute majority, Macron could not appoint a new prime minister for 50 days. The last French cabinet worked for only three months and, together with Prime Minister Michel Barnier, was dismissed by a vote of no confidence in the opposition — for the first time since 1962. The next prime minister of the country, Francois Bayrou, appointed to this post in December 2024, was able to avoid a vote of no confidence in parliament in mid-January, because he did not receive the necessary majority of votes.
